Science & Research
M+W Zander is one of the foremost design-build firms in the world for science facilities conducting advanced technology research. From designing the mammoth Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) to the Centre for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, M+W Zander is no stranger to industries that change history.
Working with scientists and facility managers, we design and build interdisciplinary centres focused on basic and applied research, providing environments that stimulate scientific collaboration, foster discovery, and support commercialisation. The centres we design are based on a spectrum of particle physics research accelerators, including normal and superconducting linear accereators and synchrotrons. They also include conventional facilities, laboratories, and cleanrooms for nanoscale and microscale research (such as MEMS, MOEMS, LIGA and other microsystems), materials research, along with prototyping and incubation facilities for eventual commercialisation.
To support our understanding of critical and changing facility requirements, M+W Zander operates its own technology equipment and facilities Innovation and Application Centre. At our global headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, a dedicated team of scientists, engineers and technicians analyse, test, develop and optimise products, environments, technologies and processes for clients who research or manufacture advanced technologies.
We have established technology partnerships with our clients in government, university, and private industries since 1912. Acquired in the 1990s by Jenoptik AG – specializing in optics, lasers, and complex instruments and equipment for large-scale, microscale and nanoscale technologies – M+W Zander is backed by a strong history and understanding of scientific innovation.
M+W Zander is proud to have participated in the 20th Century's vital heritage of discovery and invention. We are committed to continued innovation in the 21st Century as design and build partners with science and industry.
